We got to visit Don and Mary Curtis of Okan Morgans, along with Don's sister Corene, in the summer of 2025. It was great to meet all of their Lippitt herd. That year they had one foal on the ground, the first by their young head stallion BTTR Independance. The colt's dam, Okan Lexus, was beautiful, deep shining coat dappled in the sun while her son romped toward us to get some attention. She was all Morgan.

Later in the year, we inquired if she might be available. I was surprised to find that she was. By the end of the year the Sealect Morgans breeding program had it's first foundation mare.

Okan Lexus was born on the 15th of May 2008. She was the first foal of her dam, Okan Sarah a representative of the Moro Hill's Emelyn branch from Lippitt Sallie. Okan Sarah is a daughter of one of my all-time favorites, Meredith Bilirubin and a granddaughter of the famous performer Royalton Ashline. These mares are representatives of the Moro Hill's Emelyn branch from Lippitt Sallie.

Moro Hill's Emelyn is also the damline of both grandsires (Eastbrook Osiris Mouse and Meredith Smoky) and a granddam (Rohan Ashlyn) of Okan Lexus's sire, Eastbrook Vigilant. He descended from the Moro branch of the Welcome sireline being a grandson of Rohan Mighty Mouse. Eastbrook Vigilant bred two mares in his third year after which he was gelded. As far as I know, the last stallions of the Moro branch come through another son of Rohan Mighty Mouse, JLB Onyx.

Eastbrook Vigilant's dam, Good News Priscilla, is from the Justine Morgan branch of the Hippolyta mareline. Good News Priscilla's dam, Cleaves Bonnie Bay, was sired by Royalton Ethan who was also the sire of Lassie Lynn Cleaves, the dam of Cleaves Bonnie Bay. Royalton Ethan also descends from the Hippolyta mareline but this time through the Bethal branch.

Okan Lexus was described by her breeder as a "really nice mare with that WOW factor. She is stunning and a beautiful mover. Everything we could have dreamed of from this cross and we are so glad to have her. Both bold & friendly."

They also said "She completed her 90 days of saddle training and what an awesome mare, very content on the trail to lead or follow."
